High winds largely ground New Era Kite Festival

MINERAL WELLS -- New Era Air and Space Adventure had their annual Kite Festival on Sunday at Mineral Wells Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
New Era Air and Space Adventure had previously scheduled the event for the same time and place on Saturday but had to cancel because of unsafe weather conditions.
The windy weather on Saturday was a problem for numerous reasons. One of them was safety. The organizers of the event were worried that the canopies and other temporary structures they planned to set up would be unsafe in the windy conditions. The organizers also canceled because the kites cannot perform well if it is windy.
At Sunday's event, New Era Air and Space Adventure had many attractions other than kites. They had music playing as well as different stations set up for attendees. They had craft stations showcasing the area's talent in multiple areas. They also had a face painting station. New Era Air and Space Adventure also had a food truck accompanied by Kona Ice.
