Count the Actors Guild of Parkersburg among the non-profits encouraging supporters to donate during Give Local MOV.

The Guild is a community theater organization in Wood County that has been in operation for more than 70 years. Shows are presented at the Guild Playhouse on Market Street where operations have been getting back up to speed after two years of strict restrictions under the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic protocols.

The funds are important for the Actors Guild at this time of year, according to Guild spokesman Marsha Mueller.

"The Give Local MOV funds are very important for the Actors Guild as this is typically the time of the fiscal year that we hit a bit of a slump on funding," she said.

Funds raised through Give Local MOV for 2023 will be used to cover operational expenses in the furtherance of the Actors Guild mission, Mueller said.

The theater organization in the 2022 Give Local MOV campaign raised just more than $9,100, she said.

"In 2022 we raised $9,104 from Give Local MOV," Mueller said. "These funds were utilized to help the organization recover from COVID."

The goal is $7,000 this year, given the current economy, she said.

The Actors Guild has been encouraging supporters to make donations during Give Local MOV. The Guild utilizes social media to rally its faithful supporters to donate, Mueller said.

"One beneficial part of this day is that matching funds can help everyone to make a larger impact with their donation," she said.
