High school marching bands closing out Artsbridge concert series Thursday

PARKERSBURG -- The final show in the Artsbridge Concert in the Park series will feature marching bands from Parkersburg High, Parkersburg South and Williamstown High at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at City Park in Parkersburg.
The concert at the bandshell will start 30 minutes earlier than the usual 7 p.m. and will last 90 minutes instead of an hour.
Williamstown High is making its inaugural appearance at the Artsbridge concert series.
Under the director of Jedidiah Corra, the Pride of Williamstown has participated in competitions around the state of West Virginia, including the Oil and Gas Festival Marching Band Contest, Parkersburg South Marching Band Invitational, Jim Kessell Big Red Band Invitational and the state Marching Band Invitational, among others.
The band received a first place in percussion and Class D first place at the Parkersburg South Marching Band Invitational and second runner up to grand champion in the Blue Division at the West Virginia Marching Band Invitational.
The Williamstown High marching band has nearly doubled in size and many of the students have been part of the West Virginia All State Band and received individual music scholarships and have continued to Division I schools to be part of collegiate marching and concert bands.
The Parkersburg South marching band is under the direction of William Cosby. Dan White directs the Parkersburg High marching band.
Lawn chairs or blankets are recommended and the concert is sponsored by the city of Parkersburg and Napoli's Pizza. Artsbridge will collect donations during the concert and divide them among the three bands.
