PARKERSBURG -- Independent State's unique Appalachian Soul Rebel Roots sound is inspired by the natural beauty, rugged spirit, and rich heritage of the mountain state, said a press release from Artsbridge.

The band's influences, musical experiences, and instrumentation are diverse, keeping one foot rooted in tradition while the other steps into new territory. Shows weave a tale of bumpy country roads, wholesome family ties, the struggle to carve out a living in these hills, magical sunsets, and the rebellious charisma that connect the people of West Virginia.

This free concert will be held June 30th, 7 p.m. at Parkersburg City Park and is being sponsored by Solvay Polymers.

It is Artsbridge's 20th year bringing free music to the Mid-Ohio Valley and they will be celebrating with, drawings, giveaways and food trucks. Bring a lawn chair, friends and family to the City Park band shell. If it rains, the concert will be moved to the horseshoe pit beside the bandshell.

The concert is free but donations will be collected for Arts in Education programs benefiting local schools in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
