Family Crisis Intervention Center to open office at Vienna Police Department

VIENNA -- The Family Crisis Intervention Center of Wood County is opening an office in the Vienna Police Department.
Starting June 17, and every Friday after, Teresa Smith, sexual assault response advocate, coordinator and certified domestic violence advocate, will be at the department to provide services to the Vienna community.
"We wanted to make it easier for people without transportation to get to us." Smith said. "Not everyone can get to our southside location."
Family Crisis Intervention also is also working with the Williamstown Police Department to expand there and has plans to open an office at the Kids First building at 1224 Market St., Parkersburg. The center hopes to have the Market Street office open by the end of June where two advocates will be there two days a week to assist anyone in need of help.
The Family Crisis Intervention Center is a domestic violence, and recognized rape center that serves Calhoun, Jackson, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Tyler, Wirt and Wood counties. Its services include shelter for victims of abuse and their children, individual counseling, advocacy, emotional support and information for the victims of sexual assault in a hospital setting and peer support groups, among other services.
All services are free and confidential and individuals do not have to be in crisis to receive services. Individuals can call the 24 hour hotline at 800-794-2335 or 304-428-2333

The Vienna office will operate within the Police Department at 604 29th St. and be open between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Fridays. Individuals will need to make an appointment to be seen and can call 304-966-5447 to do so.
