ST. MARYS — A St. Marys man has released his first album.

“Worthy the Lamb” by Denver Adams is a CD of 10 songs written by other artists of the country gospel style.

Adams, 64, has sang and performed his entire life.

“I was a drummer back many, many years ago,” he said.

Adams sang with The Carriers, a gospel group started by David and Mike Kelly in Belmont. The Carriers were formed in 1969.

“I sang with them for many, many years,” Adams said.

David Kelly is a member of the House of Delegates and a former sheriff and Tyler County Commissioner.

The album is a collection of songs covered by other groups and singers, Adams said.

Songs on the album are “Your Cries Have Awakened the Master,” “Too Many Times,” “Worthy the Lamb,” “Goodbye to Mercy,” “In the Garden,” “Breathe,” “Don’t That Sound Like Heaven,” “Two Winning Hands,” “That I Could Still Go Free” and “Daddy’s Hands.”

“Daddy’s Hands” was written and performed by the late Holly Dunn, a country singer from West Virginia who wrote the song as a gift to her dad for Father’s Day. The song received two Grammy nominations.

Adams’ son, Steven, shot the photos for the album. The CD was produced by Roger Hoover at Sweetsong Productions in Parkersburg.

The CD will be available in mid May from his website, www.denveradams.com, by contacting him at usmcdenver1957@gmail.com or at 304 684-1030 and at the Bank Barbershop in the Union Bank Building on Main Street in St. Marys.

Cost is $15.

Adams is a 1977 graduate of St. Marys High School. After graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corps and served six years. He was a police dispatcher for the St. Marys Police Department for 23 years staring in 1983, then worked four years at the St. Marys Correctional Center.

“Worthy the Lamb” is Adams’ first album. At 64, the time was right, according to Adams.

“I figure I better do this before my voice goes,” he said.
