MARIETTA -- The Washington County Career Center has announed the May Students of the Month, Julia Hartline and Cam Bellville.
Hartline is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program. She is the daughter of Jeff and Kathryn Hartline of Marietta.
At the Career Center, Hartline is president of her technical program and a member of both the SkillsUSA youth organization and the Student Leader program. She has received awards for Principal List, Honor Roll and Merit Roll.
At Marietta High School, she is active in softball and was a member of FFA. For the past 13 years, she has been active with 4H. She is the president for the 4H program, Carteens, where she teaches other teens about safe driving.
Through College Credit Plus, Hartline earned both high school and college credit for English Composition, Introduction to Nutrition, Medical Terminology, Psychology, Speech, Statistics and Technical Writing. In addition, she has earned industrial credentials and certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator, Stop the Bleed and State Tested Nursing Assistant. Through her technical program, Hartline has taken course offerings of Health Science & Technology, Medical Terminology, Patient Centered Care, and Principles of Allied Health Medicine.
School Counselor, Cynthia Schwendeman, nominated Hartline and said "Julia is a hard worker. Her attendance is exemplary, and she is a very dedicated student."
Upon graduation, Hartline will attend Kent State University for a bachelor's in Radiation Therapy.
Bellville is a Frontier senior enrolled in the Electricity program. He is the son of Doug and Jessica Bellville of New Matamoras.
At the Career Center, Bellville is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization. He has received awards for Principal List, Honor Roll and Merit Roll. At Frontier High School, he was active in golf and FFA. Through his technical program, Bellville earned industrial credentials and certifications for OSHA 10-Hour Training and National Center for Construction Education and Research - Core and Level 1. He has taken course offerings for Commercial & Industrial Construction Electrical Systems, Construction Electrical Systems, Construction Safety & Crew Leadership, and Residential Electrical Systems.
Jeff Canterbury, electricity instructor, nominated Bellville. "Cam is always working, strives for good grades, and is very helpful," Canterbury said. "He is someone you can count on. He is very skilled in electricity as well as many other areas. Cam is very deserving of this honor."
Bellville is employed with Baumgard Construction as a laborer. He aspires to enter the IBEW Union after high school or work in the coal mines.
