PARKERSBURG -- Discovery World on Market has received a $50,000 grant from a local foundation.
The Bernard McDonough Foundation awarded the funds to the interactive children's museum, set to open this fall at 900 Market St. in Parkersburg, to support the "Parkersburg You Are Here" exhibit and the Americans with Disabilities Act ramp in the Design Studio on the third floor of the building.
"I love how … both the public and private sectors are stepping forward to help support this tremendous initiative that the Ross Foundation is championing," said Wendy Shriver, executive director of Discovery World on Market.
"I feel this will be a game changer for our downtown and allow children to have experiences that they would not be able to have without the Ross Foundation stepping up and providing such a great opportunity," said Robert Boone, executive director of the McDonough Foundation. "I feel this will be life-changing for the youth in our area along with other youth that will visit the museum and will make a significant impact for Parkesburg and the surrounding area."
