Marietta College student releases new song

MARIETTA -- A local student has released a new love song.
"December Ain't So Cold" by Evan Cunningham was written in collaboration with his friend, Jake Binegar.
"It's been awesome to work with him," Cunningham said.
"December Ain't So Cold" is a love song in the country genre, according to Cunningham.
Cunningham is a freshman marketing and communications major at Marietta College. He graduated from Frontier High School.
The roots of "December Ain't So Cold" was from December of last year when, unlike this year, the weather was cold and snowy.
Cunningham said he didn't like the cold, so he and Binegar decided to work on a song.
"From there it kind of took off and turned into a love song," Cunningham said.
"The melts off my heart when I got your hand to hold," goes the lyrics to the song. "This winter, this December ain't so cold."
Friends like the song, he said.
The music was released Dec. 10 and debuted on a local radio station on Dec. 16.

Cunningham has written two other songs.
"Burning Gas" is about getting a license and driving around. "Crazy for You" is a love song.
Cunningham has been writing songs for more than two years and has played the guitar for more than 10 years.
He has performed in September at the Adelphia in Marietta, at the Washington County Fair, Jeremiah's Coffee House in Marietta, at the Peoples Bank Theatre with Mark Doebrich, and at the Monroe Theater in Woodsfield.
Cunningham also is working on a new EP to be released next year. The collections of songs will include a new recording of "Burning Gas."
