BELLEVILLE -- Fun could be had all around the Belleville Homecoming Saturday and Sunday, with games, prizes, inflatables, live entertainment and of course shopping available at every turn.
Contests included Oreo eating, toilet paper unrolling, hula hooping, cornhole and many others thought up by board members.
"It's great to be back since we had to cancel last year, and we saw a great turnout this weekend," said board member Marry Ann Conner.
Conner has been in charge of doing games and the parade for the homecoming since 2006.
"I enjoy doing this every year; it is so much fun," said Conner.
This year's parade included 13 horses that marched in tribute to the 13 American troops killed in an attack during the evacuation of Afghanistan last month.
"We wanted to take the time to honor our troops and all the lives lost, especially with our event falling right after 9/11," said Conner.
The board members made sure to have options available for everyone, with truck and tractor pulls, horse shows and a car show also available throughout the weekend.
"I have had so much fun out here today," said Myra Smith, who was performing with her family's horse Cosmo on the trail obstacle course. "He wasn't sure about all of the obstacles but it was still a good performance."
The tractor pull was another hit at the Homecoming. Raymond Morton Jr. took first place by one inch among five tractors in the 5,500 division.
"I go to tractor shows a lot, but it is fun to compete in pulls as well," he said.
