VIENNA — More than $40,000 was raised Monday at the Camden Clark Foundation’s 34th Annual Charity Golf Classic at the Parkersburg Country Club in Vienna.
The 2021 edition will benefit the Foundation’s Project Chair-ity, aimed at making treatment more comfortable for cancer patients by purchasing 30 new treatment chairs featuring heat and massage. The cost is $150,000.
“Patients have heat, massage, they recline all the way, and have a place for your feet to rest. We want to keep our cancer patients as comfortable as possible while they are receiving their treatment,” Foundation Executive Director Kim Couch said. “It just seems like the right thing to do and put them in the position to have the very best outcomes that they can. So we’re happy to be here today and support the efforts of the cancer center and ambulatory infusion center.”
A helicopter ball drop took place below the clubhouse off River Road, with Pickering Associates President and CEO Ryan Taylor winning $2,000 cash for having the ball closest to the pin. Taylor donated the prize money back to the foundation.
A Pickering Associates employee also won the 50/50 drawing of $615, which was donated back as well.
