PARKERSBURG -- Stephanie Craig, director of Mary's House, spoke to the Senior Stitchers Sewing Group on July 13.
Mary's House is a home for pregnant women of any faith 18 and older. Eight residents can live there at no cost during their pregnancy, learn life skills, further their education and prepare to live outside the home. They can remain at the home for six months after the birth. Mary's House is located on Ohio 266 in Stockport.
The Senior Stitchers donated seven baby quilts and a large quilt to be used for a fundraising raffle. The home opened June 25 and held a ribbon cutting on July 16.
The sewing group plans to add Mary's House to its list of organizations to receive quilts and other sewing projects. Members are working on Christmas stockings for other organizations.
Senior Stitchers meets 9-noon Tuesdays at Bolts and Quarters Quilt Shop. Owner by Brian McCoy has offered his sewing classroom to the group without charge for the last two years.
At the Tuesday meeting, the Senior Stitchers showed its gratitude with a donation to his remodeling and expansion project.
