Downtown PKB readying cleanup event
PARKERSBURG — Downtown PKB will hold a cleanup 9 a.m.-noon May 8 in downtown Parkersburg.
Volunteers will plant flowers, pull weeds and clean trash and will meet at 9 a.m., rain or shine, at Bicentennial Park, Wendy L. Shriver, executive director of Downtown PKB, said.
Teams of volunteers will be provided gloves and trash bags. Afterward, everyone is invited to lunch on Downtown PKB, she said.
“Come downtown to lend a helping hand,” Shriver said.
Masks are recommended.
Downtown PKB also is organizing its Adopt-a-Pot program, a commitment by businesses and residents to water, weed and maintain sponsored flowerpots from late May until October. Soil and flowers will be purchased by Downtown PKB’s Design Committee and planted on the cleanup day.
To participate in the program, download the form from the project page on the Downtown PKB website, downtownpkb.com/projects-1-1, under Adopt-A-Pot. Mail the form to Downtown PKB. PO Box 1671, Parkersburg, WV 26102, or email it to Wendy Shriver at email@example.com.
A sign with the sponsor’s name or business will be placed in the flowerpot.
“We are also looking for interested businesses or individuals that would like to sponsor our cleanup event,” Shriver said. “Funds will be used to purchase flowers, soil, and paints for our upcoming projects.”
