PARKERSBURG -- A student at Parkersburg High School is the winner of the Artsbridge Donna Campbell Award for Excellence Scholarship.

Olivia Williams, a senior at Parkersburg High School, plans to attend West Virginia University at Morgantown in the fall. Among her interests are taking college courses, soccer, rowing crew and singing with the A Capella Choir.

The amount of the scholarship is $1,500 toward the first semester of college for a graduating high school senior who plans to continue to pursue fine arts at the college level.

This is the second year of the scholarship.

The Donna Campbell Award for Excellence and the Artsbridge fine arts teacher awards were created and sponsored by Luke Frazier, founder and director of the American Pops Orchestra in Washington, D.C. Frazier, a Parkersburg native, approached Artsbridge two years ago with the idea for the scholarship and awards.

The winner is selected by a panel of Artsbridge board members and music and arts educators selected by Frazier.

Artsbridge will begin accepting applications for the 2022 student scholarship and nominations for the teacher awards in November.

The Janet Frazier Awards for Excellence are for fine arts teachers also was established by Frazier. Artsbridge last week announced the recipients of the awards, Abbie Burge of Parkersburg South High School and Amy Walsh at Martin and Greenmont schools. They received $1,000 for classroom supplies.
