PARKERSBURG -- The Parkersburg Art Center will be hosting the Pac Com Exhibit with the opening on Feb. 13 (Saturday) through April 3.
Working with Tony Workman of Classic Plastic Toys, the exhibit is a pop Culture related show and will feature comic art, cosplay costumes, dioramas featuring Lego and action figures all provided by artists in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Dioramas, 3D printing, robotics, and many more will be shown.
This is the first year for the exhibit and the reasoning was to replace the Classic Plastics Toy Expo set up by Workman, which was canceled due to COVID, according to Jessie Siefert, managing director of the Art Center.
Spending a little bit over a month getting the exhibit show ready, Siefert said that it was Workman who reached out to the artists to supply the exhibit.
"He's (Tony) always been a great partner working with the art center. We just wanted to keep his event sort of in the hearts and minds of the community and give those people who make things, an opportunity to be creative and share what they do with everyone," Siefert said. "This is the first year we've ever done it. So I don't really know what to expect.
"So far, what we've seen is really, really good, interesting, fun and creative art."
Those who attend the opening in cosplay will receive a free pass to the game room at the Classic Plastic Toy store in the Grand Central Mall.
Masks are required and the allowed attendance inside the Art Center will be monitored and limited to allow for proper social distancing.
"It could potentially be a great show. One thing that COVID has taught us is you need to be flexible and think on your toes. We've been able to try new things and this is something new and we don't know where it will take us but we're glad we've been able to do it," Siefert said.
