PARKERSBURG -- Zak Morgan, a songwriter/musician and Grammy Award nominee, will present a virtual tour for Artsbridge Artists-on-Tour in elementary schools in Wood, Pleasants, Jackson, and Ritchie counties in West Virginia and Belpre City Schools, Warren Local Schools, Marietta City Schools, and Morgan County Schools in Washington County in Ohio during the month of February.
The performance is suggested for first to fourth grade students.
A national entertainer, Morgan performs hundreds of concerts each year at auditoriums, festivals, and theaters.
In his literacy show, Morgan shares his love of reading, writing and imagining. He uses his humorous story songs to demonstrate literary devices and elements of a story. While interacting with the music, children not only experience the joy of language but also the underlying themes of perseverance and kindness.
Morgan has performed more than 2,500 concerts for children across the country. After earning a B.A. in English from Kenyon College, he worked as Director of Rights Acquisitions for Recorded Books Inc. and was immersed in children's literature.
His first CD, "Bloom" was met with awards and "Best of" listings. In 2003 Morgan released the Grammy nominated CD "When Bullfrogs Croak." In 2007 he released the DVD, "ZakLand" with Hollywood director Jay Silverman, while 2011 brought "The Candy Machine," an album about the golden rule. In February 2012, Morgan signed with myKaZoo Music/Universal Music Enterprises and released "The Barber of the Beasts." In 2014 Zak released a collection of traditional pre-1900 Christmas songs.
He lives in Cincinnati, where he grew up and continues to write, record, and perform concerts and creative writing residencies for children and families across the country.
