VIENNA — Despite the challenges of 2020, The PM Company has been able to continue its “Spirit of Giving” program this year to benefit local non-profits.

A total of $35,000 has been given to local charities including Old Man Rivers, FaithLink, Thrive, House to Home, Belpre Area Ministries, CASA and Children’s Home Society.

“Change is inevitable in these moments in history but one thing that stays constant is the human spirit and desire to help others in need,” said Karmyn Conley, Managing Partner with The PM Company. “Even with changes in place, The PM Company’s ‘Spirit of Giving’ remains the center of our mission and commitment to the community.”

Cienna Van Dyke, the company’s Director of Hospitality Operations, said the company and its tenants still wanted to be involved in the “Spirit of Giving” efforts so they came up with a “Collection Campaign” which was held on the third Thursday of each month starting in August.

“First, we notified the tenants what items will need to be collected per the charities requests,” Van Dyke said. “We then picked up the items from our tenants and vendors on the third Thursday of each month and delivered them to each charity. We were able to collect thousands of dollars worth of items for five different charities. This was a way tenants, employees, friends and family could get involved in our ‘Spirit of Giving,'” she said.

The “Spirit of Giving” fund was created by Pat Minnite Sr. at the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation in 2007 as a source to benefit local charitable efforts and non-profit organizations through grants.

Van Dyke said 2019 was a great year, with over $121,000 collectively raised and distributed to the grantees. In 2015 and 2016, The PM Company donated over $60,000 each year to area organizations. In 2017, the program celebrated its tenth anniversary by breaking $100,000, and continued to raise over $100,000 each year.

“We trust that our efforts will continue to grow, as we affirm our goal to give back in the most positive way,” Van Dyke said. “The ‘Spirit of Giving’ truly speaks to the mission of The PM Company, and to the spirit instilled in our family by our patriarch, Pat Minnite Sr.”

Applications to “Spirit of Giving” are accepted annually with a deadline of July 1. Applying organization must be a recognized 501(C)(3) group serving the vulnerable and underserved populations in Wood County, W.Va., and/or Washington County, Ohio, where the company primarily does business.
