Bonnie Cline recognized for Ritchie County work

HARRISVILLE — Bonnie Cline, known as the neighborhood Mother Goose figure, was recently recognized for her work in the community and presented with an award from the Ritchie County Ministerial Association.

For the past 33 years, Cline has worked for Community Resources Inc. Her passion for helping people is what made her so dedicated to her work.

Through the years, Cline was able to establish relationships with area churches, the ministerial association and Faith in Action, which helps fund Community Resources in the county. Those groups annually provide the organization from $35,000-$50,000.

“I can’t express enough how amazing they are and how much trust they have for me,” Cline said. “I’ve built that relationship. We keep in contact daily.”

Those funds help the community by purchasing needed items like hot water tanks, fix a floor that’s caved in, build a wheelchair accessible ramp or help to pay for medications.

Cline was attending a regular ministerial association meeting when she was presented the award “for her dedication and faithful service to the citizens of Ritchie County,” the plaque said.

“I was totally taken by surprise. I had no idea this was happening,” Cline said.

Her relationship deepened with the community churches when she first attended their annual pie auction.

“The pie auction was an eye opener of just how loving and giving this county really is. I was so intrigued,” Cline said.

Community Resources offers many services to the community. Cline works with clients by mentoring those who need mentored, she said.

Cline said she often poses the question “how can I help you today so that you can survive tomorrow? I’m always looking for ways to improve the lives of others.”

An upcoming service is free tax preparation. Starting Jan. 28, residents who make less than $58,000 annually can make an appointment and receive free help filing their taxes. The service will be available 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 304-643-2332.
