PARKERSBURG - Wincore Windows & Doors presented a $20,000 donation to the WVU Medicine Camden Clark Foundation Pink Mammogram Fund on Thursday, continuing its longstanding support of breast cancer screening and early detection efforts throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Wincore President Brian Standley joined Camden Clark and Foundation representatives for the check presentation at Camden Clark's Medical Office Building B, where a pink holiday tree is currently on display in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The donation represents proceeds raised through Wincore's annual Golf "Fore" a Cure tournament, which brings together employees, community partners and supporters to benefit local breast cancer initiatives.
"We are incredibly grateful for Wincore's continued generosity and commitment to the Pink Mammogram Fund," said Kim Couch, executive director of the Camden Clark Foundation. "Their support helps remove financial barriers to breast cancer screening and diagnostic services for patients in our community who may otherwise struggle to access this important care. This $20,000 gift translates to approximately 200 mammograms for local patients, demonstrating the direct impact Wincore's continued support can have in our community."
The annual contribution continues Wincore's longstanding partnership with the Camden Clark Foundation and its commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness, screening and early detection in the communities it serves.
For more than a decade, the Camden Clark Foundation's Pink Mammogram Fund has helped provide screening mammograms, associated diagnostic testing and biopsies when indicated for uninsured or underinsured patients throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley and surrounding communities. Over the past 13 years, more than $400,000 has been raised for the fund, helping provide more than 3,000 mammograms and diagnostic procedures at no cost to local patients.
Mammography remains an important tool for the early detection of breast cancer. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and an estimated 382,640 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2026.
Observed each October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month provides an opportunity to raise awareness, support those affected by breast cancer and encourage women to stay up to date on recommended screenings.
