PARKERSBURG - Before readers can once again determine the best in a variety of businesses and service around the Mid-Ohio Valley, they have to narrow the field.
More than 2,100 nominees in more than 200 categories will be whittled down to five nominees as the first round of voting in the 2026 Parkersburg News and Sentinel Readers' Choice gets underway on Thursday.
From Oct. 1-8, people can vote once per day in each category at newsandsentinel.com/readerschoice to let the community know who they think has the best fitness center or gym, dental practice, appetizers and headstone monuments in the region. Those categories and many, many more span 10 overall groups: Body and Soul, Entertainment and Travel, Food and Dining, Health, Homes and Garden, Kids and Education, Pets, Services, Shopping, and Vehicles.
"We set the categories, but the readers tell us who belongs in them from start to finish," said Lisa Northcraft, advertising manager for the News and Sentinel.
An independent third party will tabulate the votes to determine the five nominees in each category who will move on to the final round. Voting for the Readers' Choice and two finalists in each category will take place in November, with winners announced in December.
