Marietta pedals way to Trail Town designation from mountain bike group
Marietta is among 28 cities across the country recognized by the International Mountain Bicycling Association as a 2026 IMBA Trail Town.
“We are honored to receive the IMBA Trail Town designation, which shines a light on the incredible collaboration between volunteers, local organizations, land managers and community leaders who have worked for decades to build, maintain and protect our trails,” said Ryan Smith, president of the River Valley Mountain Bike Association.
In 2024, Ohio’s outdoor recreation economy generated $20.08 billion in value added (its direct contribution to the state’s gross domestic product), supported 153,600 jobs and provided $8.63 billion in compensation.
“This designation is an exciting milestone for the entire Washington County region,” said Deana Clark, executive director of the Marietta-Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“Combined with the efforts of our bureau to grow sports tourism and outdoor recreation, this will significantly strengthen our ability to attract visitors and showcase everything our community has to offer.”
As part of the Trail Town designation, Marietta joins a growing national network of places focusing on trail stewardship, collaboration and expanding access to outdoor recreation.
“IMBA congratulates Marietta on its Trail Town designation,” said David Wiens, IMBA executive director. “IMBA Trail Towns are leading with trails by demonstrating how trails support thriving, resilient communities.”
