PARKERSBURG – The Wood County Commission awarded a bid to demolish and clean up a dilapidated home at 89 Washington Heights in Parkersburg.

During its Thursday meeting, the commission unanimously awarded the bid to Graham Demolition of Parkersburg for $6,200.

Other bids included JC Bosley Construction of Parkersburg for $6,400, Empire Builders of Parkersburg was at $12,500 and Asphalt Maintenance of Parkersburg was at $60,473.

The job would qualify for removal under some of the dilapidated property cleanup grant money the county gets from the state. Once they are awarded, the work would be paid through the state Division of Environmental Protection Dilapidated Properties Program Grant, officials said.

County officials had paid out over $100,000 in grant money they received this year to tear down a number of dilapidated properties around the county.

Officials said the grant will expire at the end of this calendar year.

Starting at $2.99/week.
