PARKERSBURG - A building on the main campus of the WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center is being torn down to make way for future development.
Crews from Bosley Construction were at the Camden Clark Medical Office Building C on Tuesday tearing it down.
The building, located near Community Bank, had served as the specialty clinic building for a number of years.
In a statement released by WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, MarJean Kennedy, VP Marketing, Development, and Strategic Initiatives, said the hospital has served the needs of the community for 125 years.
"As we continue expanding services in Southgate, Mineral Wells, and St. Marys, we're also planning for the future here on our main campus," Kennedy said. "In doing so, WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center is proceeding with the planned demolition of its Medical Office Building C as part of our long-term campus development strategy."
The building has served the community well for many years, but it no longer meets the functional needs of the organization, Kennedy said.
"This step will allow the hospital to prepare the site for future projects that support our mission to deliver exceptional care and meet the evolving health needs of our community for a lifetime," she said. "No patient care services will be impacted during this process.
"We appreciate the community's understanding and continued support as we plan for the future of health care in our region."
