PARKERSBURG — Readers have nominated nearly 1,900 businesses as their choices for the best at what they do in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

On Wednesday, voting begins to set a field of five nominees for each of the more than 200 sub-categories for the 2025 Parkersburg News and Sentinel Readers’ Choice.

The newspaper received 1,889 nominations when the contest opened in August, said Lisa Northcraft, advertising manager.

“This truly is the readers’ choice, from the initial round all the way to the final votes,” she said.

From Oct. 1-9, people can go to newsandsentinel.com/readerschoice and vote once per day in each of the categories under the 10 overall groups: Body and Soul; Entertainment and Travel; Food and Dining; Health and Beauty; Homes and Gardens; Kids and Education; Pets; Services; Shopping; and Vehicles.

An independent third party will tally the results to determine five nominees in each sub-category. Those will be announced in November, with the last round of voting to start Nov. 5. One winner and two finalists will be crowned in each sub-category and announced Dec. 10.

Starting at $2.99/week.
