PARKERSBURG — Williamstown Bank and The Giving Cup presented North Star Child Advocacy Center with a check Wednesday for $3,222 at the south Parkersburg branch.

NSCAC Executive Director Greg Collins said the payout from The Giving Cup is the largest received since becoming a beneficiary in April 2023.

“It’s unbelievable how blessed we are to be a beneficiary of The Giving Cup. North Star has so many people in this community who choose to support us through this method. We are grateful that so many people now understand the magnitude of what we try to do for our abused children every day,” he said.

The Giving Cup is strictly a donation-based coffee shop inside the Lubeck and south Parkersburg branches, with all proceeds going toward Williamstown Bank’s six selected local beneficiaries. Both customers and non-customers alike can donate to the organization of their choice, and in return, they will receive beverages of their choice. The larger the donation amount, the more beverages and incentives will be given as a token of appreciation.

Williamstown Bank CEO/President Sharon Anderson states, “We are a community minded bank in everything we do. We genuinely try to make a difference. The Giving Cup has provided us with the perfect way for people in our community to give back, all the while getting something nice in return for their generosity.”

Proceeds from The Giving Cup go to The Arc of the MOV, Williamstown Elementary School, Parkersburg South High School, Lubeck Elementary School, Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department and North Star Child Advocacy Center.

“Since beginning The Giving Cup, we have been able to provide these nonprofits, collectively, $69,537.26,” said Anderson. “This donation today makes a total of $15,757.25 we have been able to provide North Star alone. They became a beneficiary in April of 2023, so that is a lot of help in a relatively short time. It means that people are visiting The Giving Cup to provide them with the financial help that is badly needed to do the important work they do. It’s truly amazing what the Mid-Ohio Valley does daily to help those that need help, without ever wanting recognized for it,” she said.

“We are so appreciative of everyone that is buying from The Giving Cup rather than a commercial coffee store,” said Collins. “One of these six beneficiaries receives 100% of the amount paid for their drink. Williamstown Bank pays for the product, employees and cost of running the donation-based coffee shop. The Giving Cup has forever changed the trajectory of North Star, and we will forever be grateful to Williamstown Bank for their kindness and compassion.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
