PARKERSBURG — WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center has earned the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence from the American College of Cardiology for the fifth consecutive year.
Camden Clark received the prestigious accolade for providing world-class patient care through a sustainable quality improvement program, based on meeting accreditation criteria and ongoing performance registry reporting, the hospital said in a news release.
“For many years now, we’ve been nationally recognized for our care in heart failure and coronary artery disease,” said Dr. David Gnegy, president of Parkersburg Cardiology Associates and Camden Clark Medical Center director of cath lab and cardiac services. “We’re able to provide the whole package here locally. We have an amazing team of physicians, cath lab staff and surgical staff here that provide quality, world-class care for our patients.”
Hospitals earning the HeartCARE Center designation from the ACC have demonstrated commitment to consistent, high-quality cardiovascular care through comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence and community engagement, the release said.
“We are pleased to share this accolade as a continued demonstration of the excellent care we provide our cardiac patients at WVU Medicine Camden Clark. Our staff and physicians are dedicated to optimal outcomes for our patients, with a focus on both acute and preventative care,” said Kristina Brooks, Camden Clark Medical Center director of cardiac services.
In addition to earning the HeartCARE Center designation, Camden Clark was awarded three-year accreditations from the ACC in 2023 in areas including cardiac catheterization with PCI and Chest Pain Center with primary PCI and resuscitation. Most recently, Camden Clark was recognized nationally for cardiovascular care in the Healthgrades 2025 Specialty Care Awards, including five-star ratings for the treatment of heart attack and treatment of heart failure.
Camden Clark was also named first in the state of West Virginia for cardiology by Healthgrades in 2025.
