PARKERSBURG -- The Cocktail Bar, a popular downtown establishment, has announced it will close its doors.
Owner Zak Huffman shared the news, expressing gratitude to patrons and outlining plans for a series of celebratory events leading up to the closure.
"There's a lot of variables behind this, but I wanted to let you know that The Cocktail Bar is closing," Huffman said in a video posted on the establishment's Facebook page. "Our last day open is going to be Saturday, March 8."
To honor the bar's legacy, Huffman has organized several events:
* Friday - One final "Steak and Whiskey Night."
* Saturday - The last "Taylor Swift Night."
* Saturday, March 1 - A final "Name That Tune with Zak."
The grand farewell party is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, and Huffman encourages all patrons and former employees to attend.
"We encourage anyone that's ever loved The Cocktail Bar or former employees, yeah, come see us one more time," he said.
Despite the closure, Huffman said he remains committed to the revitalization of downtown Parkersburg. As a city councilman representing the area, he hinted at a new venture on the horizon.
"A new venture has presented itself that is best for me and my daughter and for downtown as a whole," Huffman shared. "I'll give you details as that goes on."
In the meantime, The Cocktail Bar will maintain its regular hours, open Thursday through Saturday for dinner, followed by bar service. Huffman invites the community to join in the upcoming events and celebrate the establishment's final chapter.
