PARKERSBURG — WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center has welcomed its fourth group of local WVU Medicine Aspiring Nurse Program students.

Nineteen nursing students will receive up to $25,000 each to support education and life expenses. The group is composed of students attending Washington State College of Ohio, West Virginia Junior College and West Virginia University at Parkersburg.

Camden Clark hosted a formal signing ceremony Dec. 16 at the Camden Clark Auditorium in the North Tower, 800 Garfield Ave., Parkersburg.

The students accepted into the fourth group of aspiring nurses will complete all clinical rotations at WVU Medicine Camden Clark to receive hands-on clinical immersive experiences to assist them as they transition to professional nursing practice, officials said.

The WVU Medicine Center for Nursing Excellence established the Aspiring Nurse Program to provide for day-to-day life expenses for nursing students. Each student accepted into the program will receive $25,000 over the course of four semesters, which includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus upon hire in exchange for a three-year work commitment following graduation.
