ST. MARYS -- Construction is underway on the new WVU Medicine Rapid Care and Specialty Care Clinic expected to open in St. Marys in January.
The facility will include state-of-the-art technology and provide rapid care services for adults and children seven days a week with no physician appointment required, according to a release from WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.
It's being built at Imlay Plaza on West Virginia 2, site of the former St. Marys High School.
X-ray and diagnostic services, including laboratory, will be offered, along with other specialty care to be announced prior to the clinic's opening. The release said it would feature rotating services such as cardiology, urology, OB-GYN, podiatry and gastroenterology, among others.
"We're thrilled to continue expanding services and accessibility to care within our surrounding communities," said WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center CEO Sean Smith. "Our expansion into Pleasants County affords us the opportunity to continue providing high quality and convenient care. As a St. Marys native, this project is close to home for me, and we look forward to continuing to provide local, connected health care and serving this community."
The construction of the new PM Company development to house the Rapid Care and Specialty Care location is anticipated to be completed in January, the release said. The sale of the property was recently finalized by the Pleasants County Development Authority and the PM Company.
"We extend a warm welcome to WVU Medicine Camden Clark as they embark on this new chapter in our community," said Pleasants County Development Authority Executive Director Diane Braun. "We look forward to working with them as they bring additional health care services to our county. Along with health care, we are confident that they will become a valued member of our community."
