GreenPal app cuts a path into Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG -- Homeowners in the Parkersburg area can now arrange for lawn care through a new app.
Nashville-based GreenPal allows users to submit a request for lawn service, which is sent to local lawn care professionals for bid.
The request includes the day service is needed, the property address and a Google aerial image of the location. Based on the request, the professionals will send a price to the homeowner, who will choose which vendor to work with.
GreenPal co-founder Gene Caballero said the company decided to launch their service in Parkersburg after seeing vendors and homeowners sign up for the service.
"We saw people organically sign up and show interest," he said.
Once a homeowner chooses which vendor to work with, they can either text through the app or call them to arrange logistics.
Lawn care professionals are screened prior to providing service for GreenPal. Caballero said they have to meet certain requirements such as being 18 or older, having a valid driver's license, social security number and bank account for payment.
After the work is complete, customers will receive a time-stamped photo to show completion. They can also leave a rating and review for the professional they worked with.
Caballero said the time of launch of their service was great.
"This is the time of year where people are deciding whether to do lawn care themselves or outsource it. We chose a perfect time to launch," he said.
Caballero said while he hasn't received any feedback about the service, there is an online page where customers can view ratings and reviews of local vendors on the app. It can be found at https://www.yourgreenpal.com/local/lawn-care-parkersburg-wv.
