ATHENS -- The Local Butcher LLC of Athens announced a voluntary recall of meat products produced without inspection and sold at a Nelsonville facility.
According to a release from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the company recalled 82.83 pounds of bacon, 48.52 pounds of peppered bacon, 15.21 pounds of bacon burgers and 89.66 pounds of whole hams due to the product being produced without the benefit of inspection and misbranding.
The products were produced and packaged from March 4 through April 11 and sold exclusively at the Canal Carry-Out, 971 Chestnut St., Nelsonville. The following products are subject to recall:
* various weights vacuum-sealed whole smoked ham
* approximately 1 pound, vacuum-sealed packages of bacon
* approximately 1 pound, vacuum-sealed packages of peppered bacon
* approximately 1-2 pounds, vacuum-sealed packages of bacon burgers
The products subject to recall bear establishment number "195" inside the Ohio mark of inspection on the front of the retail Canal Carry-out label.
The problem was discovered by a program employee performing a routine records check.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a health care provider.
