SW Resources announces merger with Goodwill

PARKERSBURG — SW Resources, a local non-profit providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, is merging with Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley Inc. in Charleston, the organizations announced via press release Wednesday.

Former SW Resources Board Chairman Jason Swiger said SW Resources and Goodwill Industries have been in discussions for several months. He said he is optimistic the merger will help each organization to grow their mission.

“The similarities between these two entities and the impact they can have are exciting, not only for the community but for the employees of SW Resources as well. They are now part of an exceptional workplace culture, enjoying employee benefits with a highly impactful organization,” he said.

“The decision to merge with SW Resources was made with careful deliberation and consideration of our shared values and mission,” said Dan Owen, President and CEO, Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley Inc. “Together, we are thrilled to create an even bigger impact in our communities by empowering more West Virginians. This merger will only enhance the current programming that both of our organizations offer West Virginians. We are thrilled to welcome the SW employees and clients to our team.”

Goodwill Vice President of Brand Management Megan Diehl said the merger was a “natural synergy” of the two organizations’ missions.

Diehl also said the Goodwill organization is looking forward to working with the SW Resources team.
