Memorial Health System holds town hall meeting in Sistersville

SISTERSVILLE -- A large crowd of citizens and hospital staff attended a Memorial Health System town hall meeting Thursday at the Sistersville Fire Department.

Dan Breece, president of Sistersville General Hospital and chief medical officer of Memorial Health System; Heidi McGowan, administrator for Sistersville General Hospital; and Bob Gesing, principal for architectural firm Trinity NAC, were on hand to discuss the new Sistersville General Hospital to be constructed. The group answered questions about the planned state-of-the-art facility and laid out their initial plans for the new space.

The new 30,000-square-foot hospital, which will be replacing the existing facility, which was announced last June.

"I can't walk anywhere in the hospital without someone asking me about it," McGowan said. "We offer good health care now but will offer exceptional health care with the new facility."

The new hospital will feature a state-of-the-art lab and diagnostic testing center, a 4,500-square-foot emergency department, eight inpatient rooms, community rooms for classes and meetings, scope and minor procedures and 24/7 emergency care to mention.

"This project is important because it ensures that health care will continue to be available to Tyler County for decades to come," Breece said.
