Harvest Moon Festival manages to weather Sunday drizzle

PARKERSBURG -- Despite the rain Sunday, the Harvest Moon Festival kept crafting and entertaining its attendees to round out the festival weekend.

"It's gone really well so far," said Christina Stevens of Heartwood Blooms about the festival's weekend turnout. "I was worried about the rain this morning, but it will be better in the afternoon."

Including Stevens, there have been quite a few new vendors at this year's Harvest Moon Festival, as well as some familiar faces in returning vendors.

Marjorie Pullin of Pullin Patterns has been attending the festival as a vendor for 30 years.

"It was really good yesterday," Pullin said. "But the rain has made it slow today. Then again, Sundays are always slow."

Although Sunday was a bit damp due to the intermittent rain, Saturday was a hit for Harvest Moon.

"Yesterday we had 2,200 plus. It was well attended, steady and it was a beautiful day," said Wood County Recreation Commission Director Bill Vincent about Saturday's attendance. "We've had great entertainment, games for the kids and tons of craft vendors. Alongside the festival we've had the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall and the Mayor's Pickleball Tournament. There's been plenty to do this weekend here at the park."
