PARKERSBURG -- Nominations for the Readers' Choice Awards are open to the public.
Wednesday marked the opening of the nomination round for The Parkersburg News and Sentinel's Readers' Choice Awards. Nominations will close Aug. 22, and readers can only nominate businesses once a day.
There are 10 major categories this year: Body and Soul, Entertainment and Travel, Food and Dining, Health, Homes and Garden, Kids and Education, Pets, Services, Shopping and Vehicles. Under these 10 categories, there are 206 sub-categories, ranging from Nail Salon to Tire Dealer.
Those who wish can nominate their favorite businesses on the Parkersburg News and Sentinel website at www.newsandsentinel.com. The website will ask for an email as well as the name of the business being nominated.
There are three rounds involved in the Readers' Choice Awards, the first one being the nomination round. The first voting round will last from Oct. 6-12. During this time, readers will be able to vote from the list of nominees to narrow down the list to the top five in each category. A second round of voting will be held from Nov. 10-16. During this round of voting, readers will vote for the top five in each category to narrow down the list to the top three. Readers will be able to vote once per category each day.
There will be one winner and two finalists in each category, and they will be announced Dec. 15.
