Subaru donations rev up Camden Clark Comprehensive Regional Cancer Center

By Staff Reports 2 min read

PARKERSBURG -- Subaru and its Loves to Care Program has donated blankets and art kits for patients at the WVU Cancer Institute Camden Clark Comprehensive Regional Cancer Center.

Camden Clark has partnered with Louis Thomas Subaru in Parkersburg and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the Loves to Care program for the fourth consecutive year.

The kits were presented Thursday to the Regional Cancer Center.

During Subaru's Loves to Care month in June, messages of hope for cancer patients were written by visitors to Louis Thomas Subaru in Parkersburg. Those who wrote a message also received a bracelet to help spread awareness of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the automaker's goal to provide hope and care, one gesture at a time.

"The connection we have with our community is evident in our partnership with Louis Thomas Subaru for the past few years. Having them come alongside us to meet the needs of our patients and families as they experience a challenging health journey demonstrates their commitment to the residents of the Mid-Ohio Valley and beyond," Lauren Gillian, BSN, RN, director of Cancer Services at the cancer institute, said. "WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center and the Cancer Institute appreciate the support and kindness of area businesses."

The partnership is an honor and privilege, Lou Thomas, president of Louis Thomas Subaru, said.

"The care, compassion and service they provide to our community is invaluable," Thomas said. "All of our lives have in some way been touched by cancer. We at Louis Thomas Subaru are forever grateful for the leadership of Subaru nationally in helping to create these partnerships and the Subaru Loves to Care outreach. If in some small way a patient can find comfort in knowing someone is thinking of them our prayers will have been answered."

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has 56 chapters across the country. It is a voluntary cancer health agency focused on finding cures and treatments for blood cancer patients and supports hundreds of cancer scientists and research projects around the world.
