Manchin announces funds for Westbrook Health Services

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced Thursday that $750,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will go to for Westbrook Health Services in Parkersburg.

The funding will support the facility’s medication-assisted treatment (MAT) initiative, which uses medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies for the treatment of substance use disorders.

“Every West Virginian has been impacted by the drug epidemic that continues to ravage our state, and combatting this heartbreaking crisis continues to be a top priority of mine. Expanding access to substance use disorder treatment and mental healthcare services is a vital part of the fight, and I’m pleased HHS is supporting the critical efforts of Westbrook Health Services to provide care throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for funding to ensure every West Virginian across the Mountain State can receive the care they need,” said Manchin.

Westbrook Health Services serves West Virginia’s Mid-Ohio Valley, including Calhoun, Jackson, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane, Tyler, Wirt and Wood counties. The staff meet the healthcare needs of more than 7,000 people annually.

Starting at $2.99/week.
