PARKERSBURG -- A release from Wood County Schools said they are looking to hire more than 40 aides for first-grade classes for the 2023-24 school year.
The release said a list of open positions is available at https://tinyurl.com/43whhfrc under Support Service Positions. It said the initial job application can be completed online and that the job listings will close at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, June 22.
The release said the positions were created as part of the West Virginia Legislature's Third Grade Success Act. The legislation requires a school aide for any first-grade classroom with more than 12 students and will affect all Wood County public elementary schools. It said although the position requires ECCAT (Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher) certification, it is not required when you apply and can be completed while working as an aide. It also said the position requires applicants to successfully pass an aide exam which is available without cost when applying for an aide or substitute aide position.
The release said any questions can be directed to Carla Rippeto in the Wood County Schools Human Resources Department at 1-304-420-9663. It said Wood County Schools offices will be closed Tuesday, June 20, in honor of West Virginia Day, but online resources will still be available.
