PARKERSBURG -- An organization promoting saving money through energy efficiency and renewable energy sources is having an event to discuss "energy freedom" Friday.
West Virginians for Energy Freedom invites people from Parkersburg and surrounding areas to a community meeting at 6 p.m. Friday in Shelter 11 at City Park. Refreshments will be provided.
The organization said the goal of the event is "empowering residents to take control of their energy bills through energy efficiency, renewable energy and other options."
Other topics will include the way the West Virginia Public Service Commission works, particularly with rate increases and subsidies, and resources for being more self-reliant and less dependent on the government for energy.
