PARKERSBURG — WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center announced plans Monday to acquire Ohio Valley Health Care.

Pending regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to be completed by June, the hospital said.

Ohio Valley, a 66-bed senior community and skilled nursing facility on Nicolette Road in Parkersburg, has been serving Mid-Ohio Valley families since 1951.

“This a great opportunity to align with a reputable healthcare organization and to expand access to the services we currently offer the community. We are excited about the acquisition of Ohio Valley Health Care and to offer the important element of post-acute care,” Steve Altmiller, president and CEO of Camden Clark, said. “Ohio Valley Health Care has served this area for more than a generation and is the type of partner that will allow us to further meet the needs of our community.”

Ohio Valley is owned by Michael Miller and his wife, Brenda.

“Our facility is very near and dear to my heart as it has been in our family for more than 70 years. Brenda and I are thrilled to be part of this agreement and to work with WVU Medicine Camden Clark,” Michael Miller, administrator of the facility, said. “This is a natural fit to maintain the long term care services we provide, to enhance the care to our residents and their families, and better serve the community.”

The existing Ohio Valley Health Care leadership team will continue to oversee the skilled nursing facility, with plans to maintain staff employment and provide a seamless transition for residents and their families.

Ohio Valley Health Care is an award-winning skilled nursing facility providing an integrated senior community environment, including physical, occupational and speech therapy. It received the West Virginia Health Care Association for “Best Practice” award in dining programs, offering restaurant-style meals for residents to access on their schedule.
