PARKERSBURG -- Downtown PKB has been helping provide a facelift for multiple businesses, organizations and vacant properties in downtown Parkersburg.
Through an American Rescue Plan grant from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, the City of Parkersburg and the McDonough Foundation, Downtown PKB is igniting economic development initiatives through this signage program and property tours, Executive Director Amanda Stevens said.
"We want to help sustain current businesses and promote growth of new businesses and organizations," Stevens said.
Funding remains available for additional signs through Downtown PKB's signage program.
Between November and March, Downtown PKB has coordinated the placement or repair of seven new signs for existing businesses or vacant properties. As a part of the rules for eligibility, signs must be for commercial space and must be compliant with the city sign ordinance.
Downtown PKB can provide a 50% match in the total cost up to $500 per sign for each business address. If the Downtown PKB logo is included in the design, the entire amount of the vinyl cling is covered by Downtown PKB, Stevens said.
The funding comes as a reimbursement upon receiving all receipts. Downtown PKB works with the business or property owners by providing referrals for graphic design service if requested and once created, sending to the printer for production and installation, Stevens said.
Eligible businesses and properties must be downtown, which is considered from 13th and Market Street southward to the floodwall.
The seven properties that have taken advantage of the signage program are: the former Big Mac Printing at 418 Market St., owned by RVP Properties; 328 Seventh St., the former Travelers Restaurant, owned by Steve Seckman; 610 Green St., NOE Office Supply; 317 Eighth St., Wood County Society; 925 Market St., Artsbridge; 724 Market St., Actors Guild of Parkersburg; and 311 Fourth St., McDonough Foundation.
As an accredited member of the National Main Street Program, Downtown PKB focuses on economic development, historic preservation, events and promotions, and downtown design.
