PARKERSBURG -- A donation from WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center will enable free admissions to the Parkersburg Art Center for a year.
The hospital presented the Art Center with $5,000 Wednesday morning, a sponsorship allowing free gallery admission to the facility until December 2023.
The gift was welcomed by Jessie Siefert, director of the Art Center.
"It makes us feel appreciated," she said.
The community will receive free admission to 15 to 20 exhibits held in the Art Center's five galleries during regular business hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, Siefert said.
The goal is for people to look at the facility as a community art center, "not for just people with means," she said.
The mission of the Art Center and Camden Clark are aligned as both deal with the health and well being of the community, Steve Altmiller, Camden Clark president and CEO, said.
"Giving back to the communities we serve, and in particular, those of all ages who can benefit from the many programs offered by the Parkersburg Art Center aligns with Camden Clark's mission," Altmiller said. "We are proud to support by sponsoring free admission to the Art Center for all to enjoy starting this holiday season, and continuing through December of 2023."
The Art Center is located at 725 Market St. in downtown Parkersburg.
