Downtown PKB, Economic Development schedule ribbon cutting for new offices
PARKERSBURG — The community is invited to attend a joint ribbon cutting and open house Tuesday, April 12, at the new offices of the Wood County Economic Development and Downtown PKB, Parkersburg’s Main Street organization.
The event will be held from 3-5 p.m. at 610 Market Street, Parkersburg (above Chams Lebanese Cuisine). A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 3:15 p.m.
People can come and see what the organizations have been up to, tour the new space, and connect with staff.
There will be light refreshments to enjoy from the Cocktail Bar.
Downtown PKB promotes downtown Parkersburg, fosters economic opportunity and creates community vitality. The goal is to create a vibrant commercial district that will provide downtown businesses, workers and nearby residents with the goods and services they need, as well as create educational, entertainment and tourism opportunities.
“It is beneficial to both organizations to share office space, as it allows us all to share ideas and feedback with each other, and it makes it convenient as we collaborate together on so many development initiatives,” said Amanda Stevens, executive director of Downtown PKB.
Lindsey Piersol also serves on Downtown PKB’s board of directors and currently serves as the chairman of the board and chair of the Downtown Development Committee.
The Wood County Economic Development Office is an organization dedicated to recruiting new businesses to the Wood County area as well as working with existing businesses to grow here and stay here. Whether people are looking for a new property, need to know about available loan or grant programs or simply need help with things like social media or a business plan, the office is an information resource.
“Our new office space is vibrant, larger and allows prospective developers to see what can be done with an older or historic building. Downtown PKB and Wood County Economic Development have had and continue to have a strong relationship. Sharing office space has allowed us to minimize costs and maximize our efforts”, said Piersol, Executive Director of WCED.
