UPDATE: FedEx Ground will occupy a 250,000-square-foot distribution center planned for construction in south Parkersburg.

A spokesman for the company confirmed the plans Thursday afternoon and said the facility is expected to be operational in 2022.

PARKERSBURG -- A $41 million distribution center is planned to be built behind Walmart and Lowe’s in south Parkersburg.

A deal has been closed for John Bosley Enterprises Inc. to sell a 55-acre tract of property at 460 Bosley Industrial Park Drive, said Larry Headlee, a consultant for the Bosley companies. The name of the buyer cannot be revealed at this point due to non-disclosure agreements, he said.

According to a building permit filed with Wood County, the facility will be 250,000 square feet.

“It’s going to be a wonderful project for the area,” Headlee said.
