Mid-Ohio Valley credit counseling board makes Frawley president

PARKERSBURG — Tom Frawley has been elected board president of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Mid-Ohio Valley effective January.

“I am honored to accept the position of board president for CCCS,” Frawley said. “Their commitment to and practice of helping people facing financial challenges to become better educated about and take control of their finances is a goal I support.

Frawley, a senior vice-president of consumer lending at Peoples Bank, has served on the board since September 2013.

“Tom’s commitment to the financial health of all people made him the ideal choice for president of the Board,” Shelene Shrewsbury, executive director of Consumer Credit Counseling, said. “He has been an integral part of our board serving on the Performance and Quality Improvement, Audit and Executive committees and sharing his over 30 years’ experience and expertise in finance and community investment.”

Consumer Credit Counseling meets the needs posed by COVID-19 by offering financial counseling and support to those seeking hardship funding from the COVID relief community fund provided by Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley, the city of Parkersburg and private donors.

“Every month when we meet we hear a Mission in Motion story shared by someone whose life has been positively changed by CCCS,” Frawley said. “The reality is that CCCS helps college graduates find their financial footing, helps people drowning in debt find relief, and teaches people the tools to make meaningful changes in their life that allow them to reach their goals.”

Doug Reeder is past president of the board of directors and closely worked with Shrewsbury to help move to the new location at 2435 Dudley Ave. and to assist the agency remain responsive to the community through addition pandemic relief services. He remains on the board to provide support, experience and guidance.

In addition to COVID relief services, Consumer Credit Counseling offers debt management, housing and mortgage counseling, bankruptcy counseling and education, credit reports and counseling, student loan counseling, representative payee service, and classes on topics such as how to sharpen financial focus.
