PARKERSBURG — It is no secret that the pandemic has impacted the way many small, local businesses operate — The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley Thrift Shops is one the latest businesses to come up with a safe and hassle-free way to continue shopping and support a great cause.

The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley Thrift Shops — one located on Dudley Avenue and the other on Broadway Avenue — are now offering online shopping through Facebook Marketplace, according to a statement released on Facebook on Monday.

“The Arc Thrift Shops are excited to offer patrons the opportunity to shop at our stores via Facebook Marketplace,” said Thrift Shop Manager Augusta Cox. “We know that the pandemic has caused some concern among the great supporters that we have, and we want to offer a socially distanced means by which people can shop locally. We will make the interaction as painless as possible and appreciate continued support of our shops.”

The shops will display their thrift finds through the Marketplace and interested buyers will be able to call the shop to either pay over the phone or set up a time in person to pay, according to the statement. The buyers will then be able to come pick up their items at a scheduled time Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“The thrift shops offer unique treasures and rare finds,” said Community Outreach Coordinator Paula Oliphant. “Every time you buy from our thrift shops, you support our valuable programs and services supporting people with disabilities in our community. Facebook Marketplace is a convenient way to check out our unique offerings.”

The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley Thrift Shop hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. To purchase items that you see on the Marketplace, call 304-422-3151 extension 123 for the Dudley Avenue shop or extension 219 for the Broadway Avenue shop.
