PARKERSBURG — Coffee enthusiasts will have another option for drinks on the south side of Parkersburg as a new Starbucks store is opening this summer.

Although an opening date has yet to be released, a Stabucks spokesperson said the location at 6 Patriot Lane in Parkersburg will be open this summer.

The 2,000 square foot store will include a drive through and will have from 10 to 25 employees.

Chris Cochrane, president of Resource Consultants and Development Inc., said the work on the building is ongoing and it won’t be completed until the city does the final inspection.

With the location next to Wal-Mart and other retail establishments and restaurants, Cochrane said he hopes the store will be successful.

“I think with the traffic light right there and the entrance to Walmart and Lowe’s, that’s something that they like. Also, the highway is improving the road past that (and) I think that’s going to help traffic,” he said.

With the Hino plant nearby, Cochrane said it will be a nice option for those folks as well.

“I’m looking forward for it to be open,” he said.

The building has space for three businesses.

According to Cochrane, the other two businesses have yet to be announced, but one will be a retail store and the other a quick, casual restaurant.

“Typically they would open pretty close to the same time (but) with the virus and everything, it got pushed back,” Cochrane said. “We’re in stages with them with the lease negotiation but we’re not all the way lined up with the other tenants.”

The target date for the other two businesses is for them to be in place by the end of the year, Cochrane said.
