PARKERSBURG -- Healthgrades has recognized WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.
The medical center is a 5-star recipient for C-Section Delivery for the fourth year in a row and a 5-star recipient for Hysterectomy procedure. Healthgrades is a leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.
The 5-star ratings show Camden Clark's clinical outcomes for C-Section Delivery and Hysterectomy are statistically significantly better than expected. WVU Medicine Camden Clark was the only area hospital to receive the awards.
"We care for our patients as we care for family. This national recognition reinforces our commitment to providing every patient with safe, high quality care every visit," said Wendy Cutright, Director of Women's and Children's Services.
Hospital quality should be at the top of the mind for consumers when evaluating and comparing hospital performance, said Dr. Brad Bowman, chief medical officer, Healthgrades.
"Women who select a hospital with a 5-star rating can feel confident in their choice knowing that these organizations are committed to providing exceptional women's care to their patients," he said.
Healthgrades analyzed all-payer state data for 16 states for years 2016 through 2018. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in hospital quality between those that have received 5-stars and those that have not. For example, from 2016 through 2018, women having a C-Section Delivery in hospitals rated 5-stars have, on average, a 59.4 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals rated 1-star.
