PARKERSBURG — Two architectural firms based in Virginia and West Virginia have announced a merger that will provide integrated design services across both states.

Charleston-based ZMM Architects & Engineers and OWPR Architects of Blacksburg, Va., have joined to create a regional design firm that employs more than 50 highly skilled professionals. The expanded firm will blend the experience of both entities, combining specializations in the design of educational, governmental, recreational, industrial, healthcare, and manufacturing facilities. In addition, the company will continue to provide services in renovation, historic preservation and the adaptive reuse of existing structures.

“The services provided by the two firms complemented each other perfectly,” ZMM President Robert Doeffinger said of the merger. “Our three offices– in Charleston, Blacksburg, and Martinsburg–provide us improved access to our clients and their projects, and of course the combined expertise will help us continue a more than 60-year tradition of providing quality design services to our clients.”
