PARKERSBURG -- The Mid-Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce sponsored the "Greatest Show" to celebrate another great year of business in the area Thursday.
This year, the chamber's annual awards banquet traded in sit down tables and a buffet-style dinner setting for a circus setting complete with games, decorations and heavy hors d'oeuvres.
"Our goal as a chamber is to facilitate connections between members, and I really feel we accomplished that goal tonight," said Jill Parsons, president and CEO of the Mid-Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce.
With the change in style, attendees were able to wander the Parkersburg Art Center's three floors playing games, trying foods from each table and socializing with others.
"In previous years you would come in and sit at a table for your business with co-workers, but this gave everyone the option of growing their networks during the event," said Parsons.
This year the chamber awarded the following eight awards to local businesses and people:
* New business of the year: The Bodega
* 2019 curb appeal/property improvement: Bolts and Quarters and Hino Motors Manufacturing
* 2019 community involvement: WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center
* Non-profit organization of 2019: Bernard McDonough Foundation
* Small business of the year: Williamstown Bank
* Young business leader of the year: Lindsey Piersol, director of the Wood County Area Economic Development Authority
* Business leader of the year: Chris Gilmer, president of West Virginia University at Parkersburg
* Chamber volunteer of the year: Danielle Allphin with Peoples Bank.
